Karl Walliser (Chairman) and Josh Leppine gave an update during the 09:30AM and 11:00AM services. Of the 240 resumes received 200 have been reviewed and over the next two weeks the remain 40 resumes will be evaluated. To date 12 resumes have been set aside for further consideration, prayer, and evaluation as we seek the next Senior Pastor for FBCR.

As we turn our focus to the potential candidates that have been set aside the Pastor Search Team ask for your prayers and patients as we seek the Lord for the Next Senior Pastor for FBCR.

To date, 241 resumes have been received from potential candidates for the Senior Pastor position. We removed the job posting from the Southern Baptist Convention and Florida Baptist Convention websites. At this time, the Pastor Search Team feels strongly about the number of resumes and canidates received to date.
Karl Walliser, Chairman, gave the congregation an update in the 9:30am and 11:00am services. Developed a Senior Pastor Profile based on the following:
o Age
o Education
o Experience
· Roughly 210 resumes received to date.
· The team reviews 20 resumes per week.
· To date, six candidates have been set aside for further consideration and prayer.
· The team will continue to review and evaluate all resumes.
· Continue to pray for the Pastor Search Team.

In general, how does First Baptist Church of Riverview (FBCR) go about choosing the next pastor?In accordance with the church Bylaws, the church-affirmed the nominees recommended by the Elders and Deacons on March 14, 2021. The Pastor Search Team will seek the spiritual path with the Lord’s lead to find the next Senior Pastor of FBCR. At some point, the search team will recommend a person to the congregation for approval.
How is a pastor search team formed?
In accordance with the church Bylaws the Elders and Deacons recommended members, lay leaders, deacons and elders to serve on the Pastor Search Team. The church body then to affirm or not affirm the recommendation.
How long will it take?
The range for most churches is one month for every year the former pastor served, 10 months to one year. Past experience for FBCR has been roughly one year but God’s timing supersedes any estimates we make.

Costs for this vary depending on length of time required but monies are available within the current budget.
Who makes the final decision on hiring a pastor?
The search team will recommend a person to the congregation who has the final authority on calling a new pastor.

The Pastor Search Team met for the first time for introductions and a time to get to know each other.
· Karl Walliser was selected as Chairman of the Pastor Search Team.
· We will be reading Search: The Pastor Search Committee Handbook by W. Vanderbloemen.
· Prepare a Senior Pastor Profile for the next Senior Pastor of FBCR.

Thank you, church body, for affirming the Pastor Search Team during the 9:30am and 11:00am services. Pastor Randall, Executive Pastor, challenged the church to enter into a 21 Day Fast to pray for the Pastor Search Team and the next Senior Pastor of FBCR.

During the 9:30am and 11:00am services, the Elders and Deacons recommended nine candidates to serve on the Pastor Search Team. There will be a church wide vote to approve or disapprove the team as a whole on March 14, 2021.
